if you haven't heard of the boost trick before, then your in for a nice supprise! YES there is a way to go faster than other ships. it involves boosting + gliding (which is basically the same speed as boosting, but your boost lasts longer!!)
it is a vital skill to have (reserving your boost for when you need it, so that you always have more boost than other players).
here's how its done:
-hold forward till at top non boost speed
-let go of forward, and boost using 1/4 of your boost
-let go of boost (a quick glide an top speed), then tap boost again boost, and use up 1/4 more of your bar
-repeat till boost is empty
-once your boost is empty you will still glide at top speed for a bit, dont press forwards until the end once you notice you have slowed down.
-REMEMBER keep finger off forward from when u start to boost, till your boost bar is dry
-you can turn left/right marginally, this will not effect the boost[/quote]
The boost trick is very important for reaching the ball quickly. generally a player may do between 4 and 8 taps of boost depending on how far/close the ball is.
the key idea of the boost trick is that you glide at top speed between taps, while using less boost. (so it is pretty much the same speed as holding boost, but more efficient). Note if you press forward, then instead of gliding at top speed between taps, you will slow down to forward speed.
