Step 1. Don't listen or care about what anyone says to you about how you play, good or bad. To shine as a leader you must be your own source of praise.

Step 2. Over-kill. Aim past your goal and you shall achieve greatness.

Step 3. Don't be intimidated by any top player, at all. Not even one little bit. If he can play like a pro then so can you or anyone who CHOOSES to. Use your brain, attention and sensitivity.

Step 4. If someone owns you in a play, congratulate them and mean it whole-heartedly. This is very important. If you don't do this you are destined for failure.

Step 5. Nice guys finish last. Don't let someone on your team who is hogging use you as a passing machine. The key to playing well as a team is chemistry and if the player on your team is at odds with you then it's your turn to hog and win FOR your team as a pro, this will further your skills for future games as you are forced to play alone and not as a team. Decide to do this with your own good judgement. However, if the players on your team go by The Way of The Uniballer, they will pass to you as much as you pass to them and do it with style/showmanship resulting in winning the game.

Step 6. Creativity is key for good team play. Get to know the abundance of playing styles everyone uses. I joined Uniball in 2000 but only proporly made an effort and played regularly since 2006. You should observe some games, look at pros, look at their style and learn how to play exactly like them. Do this with numerous pro's until you eventually formulate your own style that feels right for you. I based my style on players like -Alien- (quickness of thought), Zahovic (quickness of thought and graving), {gummy} (tactical bouncing), globe (creativity, tricks and awe), kH ("nobodys getting the ball off me attitude"), Pomm (cocky but justified "I'm winning and thats that" attitude, skill) and zucky (try get the ball off me, I will be dangerous for 100% of the game) for miniball. For hockey I based my style on players like globe (see above), Ham (ninja, timing), surreal (violent bouncing/dribbling on the wings), babalybeck (powerhouse), 3Dwarlord (adaptable to any situation, non judgemental) and Killer (ninja, sneaky.) The key is to take your favourite elements from their style and make it your own.
Just remember there is always something new to learn, no matter what level you are at. If you master everyones style then you shall become the best Uniballer, some advice I need to take myself!

Step 7. Respect players who have been here longer than you. If you think they done something wrong or something was their fault you're probably wrong. There is no fault in others if you play by the Way of the UniBaller since you will just hog and win the game for the team if they're not playing by the Way. Don't ever criticise your "elders" especially if you've got alot more to learn yourself. This attitude is destructive and will give you =SHOW= syndrome (aka sticking it to the man instead of becoming the man.) Time spent pointing out faults is time wasted that could be spent on improving yourself.

Good luck! If you have any stories of who you base your style on at the moment or in the past, do share with us!

Who do you listen to? You've played 10 years and still haven't advanced past the average miniball player stage, with a low and stable ping. Start looking for advice elsewhere! :P
