I'm soon going to start working on a bi-daily double elimination knock-out tournament. For those that are unfamiliar with double elimination tournaments:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-eli ... tournamentThe way i'm thinking about doing it is similar to pha's MiniCup with the main difference being that it's played on hockey and that players are able to pick their own teams and submit them. "Team stacking!" I hear you cry, but no, I will enforce some kind of restriction that prevents the same players being on the same teams every day - possibly similar to the way MnM dealt with squads each season.
So, my current thoughts (and please feel free to make suggestions or give reasons why my ideas won't work) are as follows:
One tournament for each server each night at around 9-10pm local time.
Unlimited number of players/teams can sign up (more teams just means more rounds).
Players form their own teams and submit them to the bot.
Games are 3v3 hockey with a time limit of 10-15 mins (shorter games will be more intense and also keep the tournament moving)
Seeds for the knock-outs will be random so that good teams aren't always playing bad teams and winning every time.
That's it really. I want to keep it nice and simple while keeping it competitive. Obviously I'd keep track of stats and all that and the season would last x number of days. But yeah, those that I've mentioned the idea to so far have been supportive (except (noob) cos he doesn't understand how double elimination works) so I think it could work. Give your opinions and stuff.
