It is confirmed! The first Showcase Match of the week will be held:
Wednesday, October 5th at 7pm EST 11pm GMT and 12am BST
Team 1: syb vs Team 2: Tiamat
Patriots (aka Wawa) will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening!
One game per server will be played alternating red vs blue. The aggregate score of those 2 games will determine the winner. Rules will be followed according to standard ladder procedures. If aggregate score is tied after 2 games, a 3rd game will be played. Server will be determined at random (East or UK)
This is NOT a ladder match (unless both teams agree to it before the game)!
If anyone would like to broadcast the play by play via mumble or teamspeak, contact me or zoron.
Also, if anyone wants to make a highlights video of the game, please let one of us know.
Good luck to both squads!
There is a channel on BR for this as well... /join Showcase

I am interested in making a highlight video unless a more experienced and skilled hand volunteers.

Mop has offered to use his mumble server if anyone is interested in listening to the play by play. Information on mumble can be found hereSteps to setting up mumble:Download mumble http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Once installed, configure your mic and sound settings. When connecting to mumble click on "Add new" and enter the following information. Label: mop's server or whatever you want to call it. IP: 66.135.59.124 Port: 3562 Username: self explanatory Once connected to mop's server, register your user name. You can do this by clicking on Self on the tool bar and then select register. The channel will be "Uniball Showcase Match" It will be under the "Uniball" heading If you're planning to listen to the play by play, I suggest you configure your mumble settings well in advance of the game. The server holds limited spots and you dont want to miss out because you were working on your setup. Thank you mop for allowing us to use your server! Announcers of the play by play: InsaneAss and noxweb. Thank you for volunteering!

Oh and if you were wondering why you can't hear people talk in the Uniball Showcase Channel, thats because it mutes everyone in that channel except the 2 announcers (nox and IA) and mop (admin).

Thank you for the great response from squads! I am going to start setting up matches for the upcoming weeks so that people are aware of what's going on. The match ups will be done according to overall skill. I want to have the games as even as possible. This is not meant to have lopsided results but to "showcase" a well played game.
These are the squads that have told me they are interested in participating:
syb, Tiamat, >Y, MD, CPU, Flow, Hajile
If other squads are interested, please let me know. Individual players have also expressed interest and are looking for squads to compete in!
Eventually, if interest grows, I will move it to a "winner stays on" each week and expand it to other map types. But for now it'll be 3v3 hock and 2 different squads each week.
Thanks again for the support and /join showcase
More match of the week games to come!

I know this is the 3rd post in a row..
This might be a little premature, but I was toying with the idea of having Winner of Week 1 play vs winner of week 2 during Week 4 and start the "winner stays on" This way, theres something to play for. And winner of week 3 will play in week 5 against the winner of week 4..and continue the process.. heres the illustration
week 1 syb vs tiamat week 2 >y vs MD week 3 CPU vs Flow week 4 winner of week 1 vs winner of week 2 week 5 Winner of week 4 vs winner of week 3 week 6 winner of week 5 vs new squad
etc etc.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
Also thinking about pre-game interviews of squads and maybe get some predictions.

Maria, I think that's great but I'm afraid it will grow old quickly.
I think letting the winners of week 5 keep the title(and icon? A belt lol) for 3 weeks before being challenged by te winner of week 8(which would be winner of 6 vs winner of 7) would be great.
This way it would keep interest, having a great game every 4 weeks, the champions vs a team that won the right to challenge them! It would give more teams the chance to win it, and I'm sure it would be more rewarding because they had to win 3 games in a row to become the winners. (posting from cellphone so I'm sure this post will be somewhat confusing, I'll edit when I get home)

I see what you're saying. New squad doesnt necessarily mean "noob" squad. I am going to try to have the games as evenly matched as possible.
I want to make all the games "great games" to watch and play in if possible. it doesnt always have to be between 2 strong squads and Id really like to avoid a strong squad vs a weak squad.
Nothing is set in stone right now, im just throwing around ideas, seeing which work better. So we'll see how the first couple weeks go and take it from there. I just wanted the squads playing in the first couple games to have something to play for. after that we can develop a format to keep it competitive based on the participation.
Thanks for your input, it is a good idea and id like to implement it eventually

it was the time agreed on by both squads. Can't have it any later because you are playing vs a euro squad.
